Iterary Guides

Make a custom deck of cards online

Whether it is a party game, a set of RPG prompt cards or a deck for your own card game, Iterary lets you design the cards and play with them in the same place: build the deck, shuffle it, draw a hand and see how it feels, all free in your browser.

Create the deck

  1. In the editor, pick Deck from the bar at the bottom and click the table.
  2. Select the deck and add Cards from the inspector. Set the copies count to add many of the same card at once.
  3. Click a card to edit it: its title, text sections, pictures and layout template.

Card faces, backs and pictures

Layout templates arrange a card for you: Basic, Big Middle, Two Even Split, Wide Middle, Poker Card with corner marks, or a 3 x 3 Grid. Any card can have a second face for a back or a flipped side, and you choose its click action: zoom, flip, rotate, show text, or nothing.

A picture is a built-in icon, a short text badge, or a link to an image hosted on the web. Iterary links to images and never stores them. Images you reuse can live in My library, which is kept in your browser, and updating one there updates it everywhere in the game.

Already have the art as one big sheet of cards? Import it as a card sheet, set the cell size, and fill the deck with one card per cell.

Bring in a list of cards

For a deck with dozens of different cards, write them in a spreadsheet first. The Import row in the deck inspector reads CSV from a file or pasted text, and you map the columns: title, description, image URL, icon, quantity, and the back title, image or icon.

Play with it

Switch to Play: Draw deals into the Hand, Shuffle gathers cards back into the Deck, and Discard moves them to the Discard pile. The deck settings choose how many cards a draw takes and which cards Shuffle and Discard gather up, and can collapse Hand, Deck or Discard to a pile.

Share the deck with a link that needs no account, or sign in for a short /g/ link that stays up to date as you edit. Everyone who opens it gets their own copy.
